Open•UP Convenience
The Expert Kit includes the LeftField Mini baseplate: featuring the Open•UP mechanism that is patented and beloved in equal measure. Open the catch halfway to slide back-and-forth on ARRI standard dovetails, then open it all the way to effortlessly lift it off the mount – switching setups in seconds.
Easily Handled
Bright Tangerine has designed the Floating Top Plate so that you don’t have to choose between rigging and handling. Once secured around the XLR handle, the support posts at the front and rear help stabilize the plate for even the shakiest of shaky-cam shoots.
High Standards
The LeftField system also sets the FX5 to the 15mm LWS standard height: the go-to setup for many industry accessories. Mount matte boxes, follow-focus and more from a consistent rod setup - to really put the “cinema” in “cinematographer”.
Dual Quick-Release
At the end of a long shoot day, the last thing you want to do is spend hours fiddling with Hex Keys and screws. The Expert Kit comes apart in two distinct chunks: the FX5 cage, and the baseplate. You can release the camera cleanly by simply unlatching the Arca Receiver. This makes pack-down much easier, especially with a camera as compact as the FX5.
Clean Rigging
Of course, the main point of a cage is adding accessories to your rig – and in that regard, the FX5 Expert Kit spoils you for choice. Choose from your classic bolt-on mounts via 1/4" and 3/8” screw threads – each with anti-twist pin threads – or alternative mounts including MAP M4 points, QD sockets and integrated NATO rails. All safe, all secure, no compromise.
Extra Functionality
For more specific setups, the FX5 Expert Kit has a range of specialist rigging systems. The Corner Top Plate features a QD socket for straps; as well as a Cold Shoe slot for a microphone, eye-light or monitor mount. And for hooking that monitor up, the HDMI Clamp included in the Base Kit prevents loss-of-signal by holding your cable in place.

The Right Side Plate gives you a pistol grip-style plate for comfortable handheld shooting, as well as a selection of 1/4" accessory mounts.
